I am a huge football fan (soccer to some)! I was brought up with the notion that football was part of our culture and almost every Sunday I was taken to the local football ground by my grandad and dad to watch our local team Lyngby Boldklub. I have followed them ever since with pride and was even editor of the fan magazine in the early 90’s. The club has won the Danish title twice (1983 & 1992) and the Cup three times (1984, 1985 & 1990). It is a club that has dominated Danish football since the early 1980’s. In 2001 the club went bankrupt and as a result was relegated three divisons down from the Super League. My support for the club has never died and I feel proud that the club has won promotion two times in the last four seasons and we are currently leading the 1st Division which is the second best division in Denmark. 2007 could be the year when the boys in blue return to the topflight...

Halfway through the recordings for Road To Salvation I wanted to try something new. One night after a bottle of Red I fooled around with the song The Clown and was trying to get the verse right when all of a sudden some Danish words flew out of my mouth and like a bolt of lightning it hit me: I had to do a song for my beloved football team. In a couple of hours I had most of the song written and I recorded a demo straight away. The next day I played it to my good friend Soren ”The fast one” Fischer and he loved what he heard, he even added som extra lyrics for the break of the song and we had the perfect football song. I presented it to the club and they loved it and wanted to release it as the official club song which made me extremely happy.

After I had recorded some proper vocals for the song we set up a session with six players from the first team squad and Soren to do the backing vocals. The session was done at my good friend Anthony Lledo’s studio here in Copenhagen and everyone had a very enjoyable evening (Faroe Island International Christian Holst still claims I have ruined his career as a popstar because I mentioned his lack of singing abilities in an interview with the fan magazine Blue Vikings. I hope a few drinks when the season is over can make him forget, lol!)

The mix of the single was done by the well known producer Flemming Rasmussen who has worked with Metallica, Ringo Starr + numerous big Danish acts.

The song was presented to the players and fans when the season ended in June 2006 and both Soren and I felt very proud when everyone was singing along to ”The official Lyngby” anthem!!

Another proud moment was when it was played for the first time at the ground when the players entered the pitch in August 2006, my son Emil looked at me and said he was very proud of me - pretty hard holding back a tear I must admit!!
